Barbara Jean Salmond, born on June 12, 1933, in Sylvania, Ohio, transitioned to eternal rest on January 21, 2025, in Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother aunt, bonus mom, bonus grandmother devoted friend, and an inspiring figure in her community, Barbara's life was a testament to resilience and joy.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Libbey High School. She went on to obtain her associate's degree from The University of Toledo. She dedicated her career to the food service industry as a skilled caterer. Her culinary talents and warm spirit brought people together, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She poured love into every meal, embodying the essence of hospitality and nurturing through her work.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, daughter, Stephanie Owens, her sons, Quentin Harris and Lamont (Claudia) Garrett, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Her legacy will live on through them, and she will be remembered for her unwavering support, kindness, and the profound love she had for her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Owens, Josephine Owens, son, Warren Lawler, Siblings, John Owens, Angie Cohen, Johnny Owens, Beverly McKelvin, Emma Johnson and Delores Owens-Whitaker.
In honor of Barbara Jean Salmond's remarkable life, family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and the impact she had on those around her Thursday February 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. for Family Hour at First Church of God, located at 3016 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, OH, where her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home®, located at 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio. Following the service, a repass will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share memories and stories, allowing Barbara's spirit to shine through the laughter and love that she so beautifully fostered in her lifetime.
As we gather to pay our respects and celebrate her journey, we will carry forward the values she instilled in all of us: love, compassion, and the joy of togetherness. Barbara Jean Salmond will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
