Barbara Diane Slayton, affectionately known as Babs, was a compassionate soul born on July 26, 1946, in Tipton, IN. She passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and a humble spirit who believed in the power of family and the importance of treasured moments. Her unwavering love for her family, her radiant smile, her spirited nature, and her infectious laughter touched the lives of all those who knew her.
Barbara's parents were Charles W. London and Gwendolyn P. Walser. She married the love of her life Kenny Slayton on New Year's Eve in 1969, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Charlie W. London, Jr., Laron London, and Bill London; her sisters Penny Manlove, Dottie Miller, and Arleen Dail.
Barbara worked diligently as a production worker for Roche in Indianapolis until her well-deserved retirement in 2010. Barbara lived a full and joyful life. She enjoyed traveling with her family and special niece Becky DuHamel. She also loved attending sporting events to watch her grandchildren play various sports. She attended her 1st Colts game with her nephew Rob Manlove which she found absolutely delightful. Barbara loved shopping trips to Walmart, playing Bingo, rolling dice, and the many cards games played with family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her devoted children, Kristina Scott and Kurt Slayton, and her cherished grandchildren, Korbin and Kurtis Hussong, Lacy and Ty Slayton, and Tylon, Sydney, and Morgan Scott. Her legacy also lives on through her daughter-in-law, Julie Slayton, and her son-in-law, Chad Scott. She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she kept close to her heart.
Visitation will be held at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana, 46036, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 4:00pmEDT, followed by a service to celebrate Barbara's life at 6:00pmEDT.
