It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and guiding light who peacefully left this world on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 21, 1949, in Bamberg, Germany, Barbara was a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering selflessness.
She loved her husband, Ray whom she lovingly called "Honey" and wholeheartedly stood by him with steadfast support, compassion, and grace. Their partnership was a true reflection of her character - built on love and selfless devotion.
An adoring mother, Barbara loved her family deeply and unconditionally. No matter the circumstance, she showed up with a heart full of love. Her sacrifices were made without complaint, and her love was felt in countless ways - both spoken and unspoken.
Barbara was an excellent cook and baker, and she expressed her love through the meals and treats she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where family gathered and memories were made. The care she put into feeding others was yet another reflection of her generous heart.
She was a hard worker who approached every responsibility with dedication and pride. Throughout her life, she placed the needs of others before her own, giving freely of her time, energy, and love without ever expecting anything in return. Her greatest joy came from caring for those around her, and her family was always at the center of her world. She shared a special bond with Coco, who was always gentle by her side. Together, they spent many afternoons eating snacks and watching her favorite shows, Judge Judy and Wheel of Fortune.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Raymond L. Smith; her parents, Christoph & Margareta Holschuh, and her twin sister Kunigunda.
She leaves behind her children Amanda Smith, Marion Kinnison (Michael), Angelo Engelhardt (Erin), and Raini Holschuh (Linde). Her grandchildren Christoph Holschuh, Marina Titz, and Tristyn Salcido. Great-grandchildren Leonard and Hermine Titz, Delila, Marilyn, Gabriel Ortega, and Valentino Salcido. Her niece Mary Lyons and nephews Billy and Steven Young. And her Coco.
Strong in spirit and generous by nature, Barbara leaves behind a legacy of compassion and selfless love. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was - a woman who put her family first and gave everything she had to those she loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
