Barbara Ann Sours June 18, 1934 – March 26, 2025
Barbara Ann Sours passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, the eldest of seven siblings.
Barbara’s adventurous spirit led her to travel throughout the country before settling in Tucumcari, NM, where she met the love of her life, James Sours. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Robin, Elizabeth (Betty), and Nona. Barbara was an active and dedicated member of the Doe’s in Tucumcari for many years, making lasting friendships and serving her community with kindness and devotion.
After James' passing, Barbara moved to Moriarty, NM, to be closer to her family. She cherished every moment with her loved ones and was deeply involved in the lives of her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Family was the heart of Barbara’s world, and she took great joy in supporting them in every aspect of their lives.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband James Sours, her beloved mother, Madeline Morgan and Great Granddaughter Brooke Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Mike Murray, and his wife, Anne; her sister, Mary Beth King, and her husband, Tony; her daughters, Robin Carter (Larry), Elizabeth (Betty) Luera (Jesse), and Nona Gemmer; along with seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at 1700 White Cloud St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, with a luncheon to follow.
Barbara’s legacy of love, family, and community will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
