Barbara Fay Steinert of Miles City, MT passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Barbara was born to Norvil and Hazel (Lawrence) Archer on May 24, 1928, in Ismay, MT. She was the 9th of 10 children in the family, (3 girls and 7 boys).
Barbara attended grade school in Ismay, MT and graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, MT in 1946. On November 8, 1946, she married Irvin Earl Steinert in Washington D.C. Upon leaving Washington, D.C. they moved to Miles City, MT.
Together, they raised their daughter and three sons. Irvin and Barbara were active in their church, with her serving as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, and Irvin serving on the church board of deacons. Barb loved to read her bible, pray and participated in many bible studies through the years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and baking cookies. She used coffee cans to store cookies in the freezer where kids and grandkids knew where to find them. She was an avid photographer and made many photo albums yearly. She was gifted in finding the perfect card for special occasions for her family and friends. Barbara and Irvin were married 66 years before his passing in 2013. Barbara will be missed by all her family and others that know her.
Barbara is survived by four children: Sharon (Jim) Mann of Missoula, MT; Rocky (Marilyn) Steinert of West Richland, WA; Mark Steinert of Denver, CO; and Tracy (Cora) Steinert of Miles City, MT; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and one great- great granddaughter; and one very special niece and her husband, Diane and Dave Moeller of Miles City who spent MUCH time taking care of Barbara: and numerous other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Irvin, siblings, Joe, Cecil, Lillie Mae, Jack, Mildred, Raymond, Claude, Harry, Wally and a daughter-in-law Miriam.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
