Barbara Ann Swanson

Barbara Ann Swanson, age 78, an 18-year resident of Shorewood, IL and formerly of Elmwood Park, IL, passed away October 28, 2025 at her home. She was born March 10, 1947 in Chicago, IL.
Devoted wife of 45 years to the late Alvin "Al" Swanson, III; loving mother of Kirk Swanson of Shorewood, IL and Kristopher (Tricia) Swanson of Plainfield, IL; dearest Nana of Kayley Pence, Kristian and Paxton Swanson, and Great Nana of McKenzie Kelley and Owen Kelley; fond sister-in-law of the late Valerie (Robert) Kurtz of California, and adored aunt of Lindsey Hudson and the late Jason Kurtz.
Barbara cherished every moment spent with family. Whether it was snuggled up on the couch with Al to enjoy a movie, traveling with Al from one coast to another or to other countries, watching her boys grow into men and raise families of their own, spending time with her grandsons at football games, building gingerbread houses or just going out to lunch and watching her granddaughter start a family of her own.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Barbara's life, memorials to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be Friday, November 14, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. Funeral Services will be at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Future inurnment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
