Barbara Diane (Tune) Johnson, 68, of Moline, passed away December 9, 2025, at her home. She battled Huntington’s Disease and Sjogren’s Syndrome for years and fought a valiant fight in later years.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday December 15, 2025, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church in Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church.
Diane was born on March 13, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Don and Ruby (Wewerka) Tune. As a child, she attended Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg where she accepted Christ at the age of 5 and was baptized at the age of 12. Growing up her family loved to travel and she visited 46 states. She continued to enjoy traveling with her own kids later in life. She attended Galesburg schools and graduated from Galesburg High School, class of 1975 and from Illinois State University in 1979. As a youth, she worked at her father’s drugstore.
Diane married Rodney Johnson on March 29, 1980, in Galesburg.
Her home as a child was filled with music and she continued her love of music as an adult. Barbara loved attending Christian concerts, especially going to see David Phelps and the Gaither Vocal Band Concerts. She taught students hard of hearing at Moline School District before retiring to raise her family.
She was a member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church. Barbara served as the Librarian at church as well as Temple Christian School. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney; children, Brian Erik Johnson of Moline and Elizabeth Morgan of Rock Island; grandchildren, Luciana Johnson, Tony Morgan, Damien Morgan and Lyric Morgan; brothers, Mark Tune and David Tune.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A special thank you to UnityPoint Hospice and the University of Iowa Huntington’s Clinic for the care and compassion given to Diane and her family.
