Barbara Croy Werderman

Barbara "Nanny" Croy Werderman, age 82, of South Mills, NC, died on August 31, 2025, at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Marietta, GA, on March 25,1943, to the late William H. Croy and Bonnie Ruth Peterson Croy, she was the widow of John Rudolph Werderman III.

Barbara was a dedicated and hardworking individual who was a greeter at Walmart for 17 years. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she nurtured her faith and found community.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Barbara "Sissy" Marrs and her husband, Randy, of South Mills, NC; her sons, Chris Werderman of Clayton, NC, and Jonathan Werderman and his wife, Kelly, of South Mills, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Bobbie Sue English, of Mapleton, GA and her half-brother, William Croy, of Rome, GA. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her daughter, Orenia "Binky" Grothe; and her son, Grady Werderman.

A graveside service will be held at West Lawn Cemetery. Details are pending but will be added here as soon as available.
