Barbara Ruth Wilkins

Barbara Ruth Wilkins, 94, of Lacon Illinois, formerly Sparland Illinois, died on October 4, 2025 at Carle Proctor Hospital in Peoria Illinois. Born on June 15, 1931 in Sparland to the late Neil and Violet (Stoecker) Hoskins, she married Larry Wilkins on August 11 1951 in LaPrairie Illinois. Larry died on April 17, 2018. Barbara is survived by her daughters Denise (John) Smith of Lacon & Darnell Wilkins of Chillicothe Illinois; grandchildren Jennifer Fristoe, Ryan Holmstrom, Kevin Holmstrom, Ross Holmstrom, Adam Murphy, Katelyn Schoch, Derek Smith, Ben Smith, Darci Vonk and Jill Jacobs; 18 great grandkids; and four great great grandkids. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Debbie Holmstrom, Darcy Wilkins, Diane Murphy and her husband Tim Murphy; and brothers Bob and Roger Hoskins. Barb was a graduate of Sparland High class of 1949. She worked a few years at the Cheese House in Sparland and at the Lacon Seal Company. Barb was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of Crossword puzzles. Cremation rites have been accord and there will be no services at this time private family burial of her ashes and her husband Larry's will be in the Lacon Cemetery at a later date.
