Barbara Ann Williams, affectionately known as Bobbie passed away on September 3, 2023. Bobbie was born on July 20, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, New York to Oscar Thomas and Frances J. Williams, and from that union Bobbie was one of eleven children. Bobbie was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and begin her business career of over 40 years between diligently helping others at the Department for Social Security and then later as a Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service where she retired in 2013.
Bobbie loved planning slumber parties and spending time with her family, especially the little ones and her beautiful mother, Frances, whom she adored. Bobbie was also known for doing "drive-byes," to check on others and she loved cooking and baking. She always wanted to feed you, especially her delicious tacos, homemade quiche, banana bread and famous chocolate chip cookies.
Thirty-one years ago, Bobbie married the love of her life Tariq Mahmood. They met at a local gas station where Tariq worked and near Bobbie's home. Those who knew Bobbie well often said she could stretch a dollar, and Tariq remembers that Bobbie never filled up her gas tank but would put only five dollars' worth of gas in her tank, every time she visited the gas station despite him telling her to fill it up, but Bobbie would tell him five dollars is all she needed. This friendly interaction led to many years of life together. Tariq and Bobbie would often enjoy many ice-cream outings together after shopping or watching a good movie.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her father: Oscar Thomas, brothers: Oscar "James" Thomas, Lemon Lee, and Anthony Williams and her sister: Juanita Foster. Two brothers-in-laws: Carlton L. Cummings Sr. and Myron Foster and sister-in-law: Christine Herring.
Bobbie leaves to cherish her memory her caring and devoted husband Tariq Mahmood, her loving mother Frances Williams and her loving daughter Nicole M. Cummings who was raised by both Bobbie and her loving sister Martha and brother-in-law Carlton Cummings Sr., her brothers: Marvin Williams (Sheila), Rodney Williams, Jeffrey Williams, and Shamar Delanoy and sisters: Martha Cummings, Phyllis Brown and Carla Awais Hammad (Hossam) and sister-in-law: Barbara Williams.
Bobbie also leaves behind her special sisters in love Joanne R. Williams, Michelle Williams, Amy Armstrong-Rodriguez, Sandra Morton, Carol Aganofer and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
