Barbara G. Wiseman

Canandaigua - Barbara G. Wiseman, age 98, passed away quietly from this life, on Christmas Eve, 2025.
Barbara was born in Wickford, England, the second of four children, of William and Ethel (Smith) Bugg. She married Peter Wiseman on October 14, 1950 in England and they emigrated to the United States in 1952, sponsored by the Dhondt family of Hopewell.
Barbara proudly kept her British citizenship and often told us of her childhood in Tilbury, England, how she gathered wildflowers with her father for the fete, feeding her rabbit, and her adventures during the war. The family had to hide in the backyard air raid shelter, where she and her brothers knitted by candlelight as the bombs fell around them. After the war, Barbara served in the Land Army at poultry and vegetable farms helping to restore her beloved country. Throughout her life, Barbara was an avid and talented knitter, and her family will treasure the sweaters and blankets that came from her hands.
She is survived by five children, Pauline Cawdry (John Geddes), Roger (Nancy) Wiseman, Gillian Wiseman, Donald Wiseman (Amy Wise) and Morwenna (Craig) Schifter; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Geoff and Donald Bugg; and her dog, Sophie. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter F. Wiseman in 2000; and sisters-in-law, Eve and Val Bugg. Barbara will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed, and the world is not quite so bright a place without her.
Services are private. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
