Barbara Jean Young

Barbara Jean Young, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, at the age of 81 in Marlette, Michigan. Born on April 15, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Barbara's life was a testament to the joy and compassion she brought into the world.
Barbara's spirit was characterized by her faith-filled nature and the immense love she held for her family and friends. She was a devoted mother to her children, Patrick Young, Tim (Jeannette) Young, and Michelle (Douglas) Curtis. Her role as a grandmother to Shaunna (Chris) Burgess and Michael Gagnier, and as a great-grandmother to Avery, was one of her greatest joys. Barbara's sister, Patricia (Bobby) Dreher, and nephew, Stanley (Kristie) Mathewson, will remember her as a guiding light in their lives. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Erma (Bailey) Stanzell, who instilled in her the values of love and family that she carried throughout her life.
Barbara's zest for life was evident in her diverse interests. She had a deep affection for her cats, who were her cherished companions. Her adventurous spirit shone through her love of motorcycle rides and the thrill of roller coaster rides. Dancing to her favorite tunes and indulging in music brought rhythm to her step and joy to those around her. Barbara was also known for her keen sense of style, which was reflected in her love of shopping.
Friends and family will fondly remember Barbara's generous heart. She was always the first to extend a helping hand and made sure that everyone around her felt loved and cared for.
A memorial visitation will be held where family and friends may visit 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville.
