Barbara Zentner Obituary

Barbara C. Zentner died on July 29, 2025. Born on January 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harold M. Case and June Budd Case. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Robert John Zentner, in 2010.

Born in Shenandoah, Iowa, Barbara graduated from Fort Atkinson High School, Fort Atkinson, WI. She attended Ripon College in Wisconsin where she met Robert whom she married in 1945, shortly after he returned from overseas duty in World War II.

Barbara lived on Schley Avenue in Frederick for over fifty years. She was primarily a homemaker and was very active in numerous groups including the League of Women Voters, the Frederick Art Club, the Monday Morning Book Club, Casual Gardens Garden Club, All Saints Altar Guild, Saint Elizabeth's Guild, and various bridge groups. Barbara was an outstanding cook and loved hosting dinner parties for her friends and holiday celebrations for the family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed overseas trips to England, Italy and Switzerland with her husband Robert.

Upon moving to Independent Living at Homewood at Frederick in 2009, Barbara led a music appreciation group and an art appreciation group while continuing to often play bridge. She remained very active after transferring to the Health Center at Homewood in 2020. The family is particularly appreciative for the quality of care and support Barbara received at Homewood at Frederick, and for all the new friends she made there.

Barbara is survived by her children Nancy Case Zentner (Steve Miller) of Chambersburg, PA, and Joseph Allen Zentner (Cynthia) of Woodsboro, MD. She was the grandmother of Rob Weinberg (Jaqueline) of Sewickley, PA, Casey Florance (Keith) of Bethesda, MD and Amanda Wagner (Jacob) of Virginia Beach, VA. Barbara was the great-grandmother of Claire, Nora and Robbie Weinberg, Turner and Ben Florance and Jolie Grace Wagner. A son, John Peter Zentner predeceased Barbara in 2008. She was also predeceased by her brother Harley Case and sisters Harriet Dowd and Shirley Sather.
