Barney Phil Greene

Barney Phil Greene, 76, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024. He was born July 23, 1947 in Edgecombe County. Barney loved his family, racing, NASCAR, and fishing. He was an Army Veteran; he served in Vietnam, and his rank at discharge was Sergeant E-5. Barney was stationed in Plekiu Vietnam with 359th Transportation Battalion part of the 8th group attachment of the 1st Logistical Command in Vietnam. He was an expert shooter on the M-14. Barney was a dedicated and loyal employee for Floras Glass and Mirror Co. Inc. for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Gray Greene; maternal grandparents, Clarence Elliott and Mattie Pridgen Hoggard; paternal grandparents, Alton Thomas and Pearl Proctor Greene.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Winnie Hoggard Greene Petway; his loving wife, Donna Edwards Greene; son, Christopher Elliott Greene and fiancée Charlene Jeffries; daughter, Jennifer Greene Stallings; grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Greene and fiancée Sarah Thompson, Christian James Stallings, Cheyenne Myers, Kara Myers, and Joel Creech, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Allison Mackyna Greene, and one great-granddaughter, Kallie Paige Greene (to arrive in June, 2024); uncle Rudy Gray Hoggard and wife Molly Holland Hoggard; sister-in-law Kimberly Edwards Proctor and husband David Scott Proctor; niece Brittany Jane Proctor; nephew Dylan Scott Proctor; fur babies Angel and Marina; numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 1:00-2:45pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home with a funeral service to be held at 3:00pm in the Chapel.
