Obituary
Barry J. Aronson, 91, of Schertz, Texas died on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Barry was born in Saratoga Springs, New York on August 26, 1931 to Alfred Morris Aronson and Margaret (Klein) Aronson.
Barry attended Glens Falls High School and graduated in the class of 1949. In 1950, Barry joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, in Texas and then Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Shortly after being assigned to Scott, he was transferred to Fairbanks, Alaska and then Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska where he served four years as a Chaplains assistant.
In 1980, Barry began his professional career as a Life Insurance broker after having spent many years in the retail industry. He worked at Pyramid Life Insurance Company as the Director of Marketing in Mission, Kansas. He then moved to North Carolina where he worked for Coastal Plains Life Insurance Company as Vice President and Director of Sales. Barry and Norma were married in Houston, Texas and and moved to San Antonio and celebrated 23 wonderful years of marriage. Barry worked for Gabriel Liquid as a benefits coordinator until his retirement after 25 years in the insurance industry.
After his marriage to Norma, Barry made the decision to join the Catholic Church, and was baptized on October 20, 2004, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. On March 26, 2005, he received the Holy Sacraments of 1st Holy Communion and Confirmation. After becoming a full member of the Catholic Church, Barry became an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus fraternal service order and became a Fourth Degree Knight. Barry was committed to serving and being involved in the parish which he demonstrated by becoming a member of the St. Michael's Society, serving in the Military Ministry, serving three years on the Parish Council, serving as Director of the ACTS Council, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and serving as Lector at Mass. Family and friends were important to Barry but being a grandfather brought Barry immense joy and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arthur Aronson; and his stepson, Kenneth Davis as well as his wife Virginia Aronson.
Barry is survived by his wife, Norma; his children, Sheryl Aronson Troublefield, Craig Aronson, Joel Aronson, and Shauna Aronson Peritz; his stepsons, Michael Davis and Jim Fabac ; his stepdaughter, Pam Fabac; his grandchildren, Lauren Troublefield Wycoff, Todd Troublefield, Jared Aronson, Rachel Aronson Thomas; his step-grandchildren Collin Fabac, Brandon Fabac, Alyssa Fabac, and Nicole Santos; three great grandchildren; and his sister, Rita Kaplan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m. He will be peacefully laid to rest in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Selma, Texas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the ACTS Scholarship Fund at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and can be sent in care of Schertz Funeral Home & Crematory, 2217 FM3009, Schertz, Texas 78154.
