Dover – Barry A. Bourgoine, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Langdon Place of Dover. Born on December 5, 1931 in Claremont, New Hampshire, Barry was the son of the late Edward and Borghild Bourgoine.
A New Hampshire native, Barry served his country in the United States Army. Barry was always proud of his service and was honored to serve the home that he loved. Following his time in the service, Barry began his career as a mechanical engineer and went on to do this for the rest of his life.
It was during this time that he met his wife, Helen Dame, and they wed on September 21, 1974 and had one son, Brent. They settled as a family in Lee, New Hampshire and remained there as long as they were able.
There were several things that Barry cherished throughout his life alongside his family. He adored time spent traveling with Helen, especially to Booth Bay, ME and different beaches in New England and Florida. He was also an avid New England sports fan, focusing in mainly on the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.
He found much enjoyment from a good puzzle, a good book, or a good game of candlepin bowling – even taking the title of Wii Bowling Champion in Langdon Place later in life.
Along with his parents, Barry is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Schmidt and brother, Cliff Bourgoine.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Helen Bourgoine of Dover; his son, Brent Bourgoine and his wife, Loretta, of Billerica, MA; and his brother, Ed Bourgoine of Claremont.
A visitation for Barry will be on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 5 PM – 7 PM at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH. A funeral service will follow at Friday, May 12 at 11 AM at the funeral home followed by a burial at Rochester Cemetery.
