Barry Ray Johnson, 57, of Howe, Indiana, died Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the home of his son near Kendallville, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 20, 1968, in Martin, Kentucky.
On September 11, 1987, in LaGrange he married Kim Harris.
He had worked as an electrician at Dutchman RV in Bristol.
Barry enjoyed playing music on his guitar, restoring and working on old cars, fishing, and hunting. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, who meant everything to him. He also had a special bond with his beloved dog, Bella, who was rarely far from his side.
Surviving are his wife, Kim Johnson of Howe; a son, Jeramy (Ashley) Johnson of Kendallville; two grandchildren, Charlize Johnson and Sullivan Johnson; his stepmother, Opalene Johnson of Knott County, Kentucky; his stepfather, Green Gayheart of Howe; three brothers, Bradley (Yvonne) Johnson of Howe, Justin Gayheart of Howe, and Josh (Catie) Gayheart of LaGrange; and a sister, Nicole (Bob) Bond of Howe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Johnson; his mother, Cynthia Gayheart; and a brother, Kevin Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
Visitation will also be Saturday, January 10, 2026, after 4 p.m. at Little Rock Church in Halo, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will follow in Burke Cemetery at Bevinsville, Kentucky.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville and Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky, are assisting the family with arrangements.
