Barry Alan Lawrence passed away peacefully in Sarasota, FL on September 17, 2025. He was born in 1944 in Luton, England. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1956, settling in Winsted, CT. He attended local grammar schools and The Gilbert School. He graduated from University of Hartford in 1973 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He was well known for his natural ability in designing and building specialized machinery for exclusive use in the family manufacturing facility. He owned and operated New England Miniature Ball Company in Norfolk, CT until retiring in 2004. He and his wife Pat eventually moved to Florida and since 2024, has resided with his wife, Pat, at The Glenridge Retirement Community in Sarasota.

He was an avid fan of auto racing and enjoyed bicycling, hiking, reading, and traveling. He was an advocate for lifetime learning and encouraged young people to excel academically to the best of their abilities so they could then share their talents in a positive way in the community.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, Alan Lawrence and Vera (Soames) Lawrence and his son, Colin Lawrence who recently passed away in China.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Whyte) Lawrence; granddaughter, Maria Bye, husband James of Windsor, CT; daughter-in-law Cao Hong Mei in Shanghai; step-grandson LiNing; sister-in-law Joan Jespersen of Colebrook, CT; and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Winchester Center Cemetery on a date to be determined.
