Barry E. Shelly passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at Normandie Ridge. Barry was born March 11, 1940, in York. Barry was the son of the late Edward M. Shelly and Edna M. Chronister Shelly.
Barry was a member of North Hills Bible Church.
He was married to Mary Rupert Shelly for 34 years.
He leaves behind a daughter Linda S. Moul and a son Barry E. Shelly, Jr. (Melissa). He also leaves a stepson Samuel Fisher (Donna), step daughter-in-law, Jane Fisher, four grandchildren: Gregory (Andrea), Heidi, Andrew (Cynthia), Matthew (Lisa), eight great grandchildren: Kyrstin, Austin, Avery, Autumn, Joey, Blakely, Easton, and Sadie Grace.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lynn and a son, Scott Edward. Also, a stepson Randy Fisher and his two sisters: Doris Hess Raber and Donaline Cable.
Barry was the owner, operator with his son and grandson of Tremont Vending, Incorporated, which he started in 1956 with his father and two vending machines in the basement of Tremont Restaurant. Later it moved to the basement of Shelly's Lounge then to its current location.
He loved the New York Yankees and Penn State. Barry was an avid bowler for many years at Fun Bowl and Lincoln Way Bowling. He was a member of the Viking Club and 13th Ward.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 7th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market Street. There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8th followed by a service and burial at Greenmount Cemetery. Memorial luncheon to follow at the Vikings Club 318 N. Adams Street. All is casual. As he was a Penn State and New York Yankee fan, if you have any of their attire or blue and white feel free to wear it. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital – P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148-0142.
