Barry Short Obituary
October 28, 1940 - April 25, 2025
Barry Arnold Short passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 84 of Parkinson's (MSA). His loving wife Mary cared for him until his passing.
Barry was a respected attorney and former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, he was senior counsel at Lewis Rice and known nationally for his work in white collar defense and complex litigation. He argued the landmark Sell v. United States case before the U.S. Supreme Court, which was published. Barry has been honored throughout his distinguished legal career. He also taught at Washington University School of Law, and was once named best dressed man in St. Louis.
Barry was married to Barbara Vierheller Short for 49 years until her passing in 2011. In 2016, he married Mary Byrne Yoon, and together they spent 10 wonderful years. He is also survived by Mary's children; Tommy Yoon (Florencia Forno), Genna Yoon Olsen (Tyler).
His daughters, Leslie Short (Scott Looney) and Angela White (Neal). Grandchildren; Tomás Yoon, Ryan, Tyler, and Zach Looney, and Kayln White; brother, Don Short (Kris); and nephews and nieces, Brian Short, Valerie Short, Anne Short, and Michael Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dennis Short, and his parents, Donald and Frances Short.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Immediately follow will be a reception at Old Warson Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association. (APDA)
