It is with great sadness that we announce that Barry Lynn Vis passed away peacefully at this home, February 15, 2024 at the age of 65.
Barry was born May 21, 1958 at Waupun Memorial Hospital, the youngest of ten children to Bernice “Bernie” and Wilma “Billie” (Bagget) Vis.
He was a 1976 graduate of Laconia High School. After High school he spent the better part of life in the construction industry as a superintendent for Miron and later owning his own construction business, BL Vis Construction specializing in concrete.
Barry was truly the Jack of all trades and could fix anything he set his mind to. He was a helpful handyman and “the concrete guy” to many. Barry was a hard worker and was always busy working on something or learning a new skill. Some of his recent passions included fractal burning, coin collecting, beekeeping, producing his own maple syrup and spending time cutting wood on his sawmill. These things filled much of his free time along with his longtime passions for hunting, gardening and helping his boys.
Barry took great pride in his 3 sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them in various activities and always had a corny dad joke or weird fact to make them laugh. He had a kind heart for his animals, especially Budy, his loyal German Shepherd companion that was always by his side.
Barry is survived by three sons: Andrew (Jessica) Vis, Mitchell (Jenna) Vis, and Anthony (Becky) Vis; nine grandchildren: Tenley and Blake, Grady, Griffin, Ezra, and Eliza, and Tucker, Miles, and Emery Vis; seven sisters: Frances (Cliff) Kalupa, Norma Coburn, Doris (Roger) Miller, Nancy (Dennis) Witthun, Linda Darnick, Arlene (Allen) Abel, and Sally (Duane) Kok; one brother, Earl (Julie) Vis; and many nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn; and brothers-in-law: Don Darnick and Tom Coburn.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-6 p.m. A private family service for Barry will be held with Pastor Gary Zacharias officiating.
