Barry Watson Obituary

Barry Watson, 80, of Monroeville, passed away on March 1, 2025. Born on February 6, 1945, in Greensburg to the late Arthur H. and Doris (Whitehead) Watson, Barry grew up in North Irwin and graduated from Norwin High School in 1962. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force before embarking on a career in computer operations and transportation logistics, working across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Taiwan. Barry's journey took him from Western PA to Long Beach, CA, Seattle, WA, various areas of Florida, and back to Western PA. He was passionate about education, enjoyed serving on a variety of Boards, and dedicated himself to spiritualism and service across the country, with Lily Dale Assembly holding a special place in his heart. A lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, Barry also loved traveling, golf, genealogy, and supporting the Norwin Band. He embraced life fully, finding joy in every experience that came his way - never spending too much time on what could have been, and trusting in the process of our Universe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Lee. He is survived by his sister, Diane (Carl) Nagy; nephew, Jason (Kristy) Halter, niece, Suzanne Holly (Rick Wilson); grand-nephews John Holly and James (Sury) Holly; grand-nieces Jaslyne (Richard) Walter, Jessica (David) Bailey, Noah Halter, and Courtney Halter; and great-grand-nephews, Mason, Sawyer, and Jasper Holly and Rhys Walter. A friend to many, 'Uncle B' or 'Uncle Dubby' to some, and a bright light for most, Barry's warmth, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. A time for sharing stories and some readings Barry requested will conclude the evening. Private interment with military honors will be Wednesday, March 5, in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Norwin Band Aides online or by mail at P.O. Box 303, Irwin, PA 15642 or Lily Dale Assembly at ww.lilydaleassembly.org or by mail at P.O. Box 248, Lily Dale, NY 14752. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.
