WEAVER, Barry Edward, age 83, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Georgia, where he spent the last two and half years of his life near his son and family. A long-time resident of Kettering and Centerville, Ohio, Barry's life was marked by deep connections with his family, friends, and community.
Barry attended St. Albert the Great School and Fairmont High School, where he was an accomplished football player, graduating with the class of 1960. He went on to attend Bowling Green State University, earning his degree in finance in 1964, while playing football as both a halfback and linebacker.
It was at Bowling Green that Barry met the love of his life, Carole Ann Nitz. They became college sweethearts, marrying in 1964, and together they raised two children: Colleen Marie Weaver, born in 1968, and Barry John Weaver, born in 1970. Barry cherished his role as a father, often attending his son's sports events with enthusiasm and pride.
A lifelong member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Bowling Green, Barry was also part of the high school club, the Bootheads, and formed many lasting friendships throughout his life.
Barry had a successful career in banking, becoming the youngest Vice President at Gem City Savings and Loan at the time. Later, he served as President of Home Federal Savings and Loan. In 1984, Barry followed his entrepreneurial dream by purchasing Dayton Sports Center, which he later transformed into Dayton Billiards. Barry was also a devout member of the Catholic community, Barry found joy in both his family and his faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Colleen; his son, Barry (Wendy); and his grandchildren, Hannah, Haleigh, Hayden, Harrison, and Hadley Grace. He is also survived by his sisters, Cecily, Joy, and Karen, and many dear friends who considered him a brother, including George, Butch, Bob, Ron, and countless others who held him in their hearts.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucille Weaver; his sister, Peggy; and his beloved wife, Carole.
Barry will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving man whose legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. He lived his life with integrity, joy, and a passion for those he loved.
Funeral Home calling hours for family to receive visiting friends will begin on Friday, April 11th, 2025 at 9am; the Funeral Service will begin at noon, held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church.
