Bartholomew "Bart" Baltrusis, 91, of Royalton, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Bart was born on November 23, 1933, in Royalton to John and Antonia (Pazereskas) Baltrusis. He was united in marriage to Judy Marie Plusnick on June 13, 1958. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2006.
Bart was a 1951 graduate of Royalton High School. Bart honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korea era. Upon returning home, Bart began his career as a brick layer and also as a coal miner. Bart retired from Consolidation Coal in Sesser and also retired from UMWA Local #1545 and BAC Local #8.
Bart is survived by his two children, Suzanne (Bobby) Johnson of Valier and Batholomew "Bart" (Chesney) Baltrusis II of Royalton; one grandson, Scott Sanders of Valier; one great-grandson, Ridge Sanders. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; eight siblings, Samuel Baltrusis, Ann Norbut, Dorothy Short, Eva Kunke, Frances Baltrusis, Freda Petrona Sich, Johnnie Baltrusis, infant, Mary Baltrusis; several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Royalton with Fr. Eusebius Mbidoaka officiating with military rites conducted by the United States National Guard Funeral Honors Team and members of the Orient/Zeigler American Legion Post #177.
