Basel J. Zickefoose, 92, of Helena, passed October 6, 2025 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1932 in Alton, WV the son of Walker Ray and Trecie May (Gooden) Zickefoose. Basel was a true patriot and United States Army Veteran serving as a Corporal in the infantry from 1953-1955.
After his military service he worked as a Yuke driver for J.E. Baker (now Carmeuse) Quarry. Basel enjoyed his time outdoors tending to his yard and flowers, woodworking and watching sports especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and the Guardian. He was rarely seen with out a book in his hands and known for his strong determination. He was often quoted as saying "Can't died in a cornfield years ago..."
Surviving are wife Frances Zickefoose of Helena, OH; his children: Patrick Zickefoose, Robert Small, Tony Brake, Kenny Zickefoose, Rocky Zickefoose, Debbi Bose, Dena Jankowski; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
Private services and burial will take place in West Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
