Basil Myers, born on November 12, 1935, in Yuba City, California, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Menifee, California. He was 89 years old.

A deep passion marked Basil's life for all things mechanical and a generous spirit that touched many lives. From an early age, he was drawn to anything with wheels or an engine-a fascination that would become both a lifelong hobby and a way to connect with others. Over the years, Basil dedicated countless hours to restoring bicycles and gifting them to children. His garage became a place of transformation-not just for bikes and boats-but for the joy and freedom they brought to others.

For the past three decades, Basil immersed himself in the world of jet boats. His craftsmanship and dedication led him to build two cherished family boats that brought endless enjoyment to those closest to him. Beyond his own family, he constructed more than a dozen additional jet boats for others, earning him admiration and respect within the boating community. Friends and acquaintances alike often sought out his expertise, knowing they could rely on his knowledge and honest advice.

Basil shared a deep bond with Marlene Myers, the love of his life, who preceded him in death in 2007. Their partnership was one of enduring love, affection and mutual support. He also mourned the loss of his parents, Mary Neva Busse (2012), Thomas R. Busse (2004), and brothers Tom Flowers (1965) and Harry Myers (2024).

He is survived by his devoted daughter Lorie Abeles; beloved granddaughter Elinor Betty Abeles; and caring brother-in-law Jerry Montelius, sister-in-law Linda Ozbun, nieces as well as many dear friends. Their lives are a testament to the love and legacy Basil leaves behind.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who shared his passions.
