She and her husband Charles traveled to Seattle, Washington for Charles’ doctoral studies in clinical psychology. The family returned to Westchester County, New York, in 1957. Beatrice went on to complete a Professional Diploma in School Psychology at Columbia University in the 1960s.
Beatrice was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Kogan, who died in 2018 at age 93. The two married on June 9, 1949, and together they shared 69 years of marriage. Beatrice was the devoted mother of Kathryn B. Kogan and mother-in-law of Kenneth Foster. In her career she evaluated and assisted hundreds of students in the Peekskill Middle and High Schools. She was active in the teacher’s union in New York State and retired in 1996 after 28 years of service to the community. Following retirement Beatrice worked at a domestic violence shelter in Mt. In 2012 the couple relocated to Linden Ponds in Hingham where they then enjoyed seven great years with new friends. In 2019, Beatrice took up residence at The Bridges in Hingham where she and her cat Pumpkin again made new friends despite her Alzheimer’s Disease. Throughout her life Beatrice loved and valued her family, friends, cats, birding, entertaining, gardening, and the New Yorker Magazine. She was quite the jitterbug dancer in her day.
