Becky Hargitt, 52, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, April 25. She was born in Owensboro to the late James and Nancy Lashbrook Byrum.
Becky was a 1990 graduate of Daviess County High School and earned her bachelor's degree at Murray State University. She was an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, serving in a variety of ministries. Becky was primarily focused on her family and home. However, she did work and volunteer for local school systems and was most recently employed part-time at Bath and Body Works. Becky also had a passion for fitness. She regularly volunteered, worked, and worked out at the YMCA, taught Zumba classes and had completed marathons, half-marathons and several other distances at many places. She was also a big fan of Disney World and had a heart for animals. Becky will be dearly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Tom Hargitt and a brother-in-law, Steve Lossie.
Becky is survived by her husband of 27 years, Scott Hargitt; daughters, Lindsey Hargitt (Fiance, Kaleb Cary) and Allie Hargitt; sisters, Cindy Lossie and Sandy Roberts (Jason), both of Owensboro; a brother, James A. Byrum (Bernadette) of Lexington; mother-in-law, Darlene Hargitt; sister-in-law, Stacia LeGate (Mark); brother-in-law, Jason “Biff” Hargitt (Cammie); nieces, Christine Roberts, Hannah Roberts, Stephanie Galbraith, Caeson Hargitt, Cassel Hargitt, Eleanor LeGate and Amelia LeGate; and nephews, Christopher Lossie and Andrew Roberts.
The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 30 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, 601 E. 23rd Street, Owensboro, KY 42303. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Monday, with prayers at 6:00 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will also be visitation Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass.
