It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ben William Cannon, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Ben was born on September 22, 1976, in Tyler, Texas, and he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories until his untimely death on October 11, 2025, at the age of 49, due to a tragic automobile accident.
In his personal life, Ben was known for his unwavering love for his family and friends. He is survived by his cherished son, Andrew Cannon, who resides in Gilmer, Texas. Ben's mother, Debbie Cannon, also of Gilmer, mourns the loss of her beloved son. His sister, Candice Berend, and brother-in-law Augie Berend of Van Alstyne, Texas, along with his adored nephews and niece-Slade Cannon Berend, August Hess Berend, and Larkin Chandler Berend-will carry forward his legacy of love and joy. Ben's life was enriched by the love and support of his extended family, including his aunts and uncles, Mitzy and Jerry Stout of Greenville, Texas, Barbara and Jerry Hollenshead of Cooper, Texas, and Beverly and Jerry Bobo of Gilmer, Texas and a dozen cousins.
Ben is preceded in death by his father, Billy Cannon, and his cherished grandparents: Larry Chandler; Gene and Ann Chandler Campbell; Bill and Margie Cannon; and Opal and TD Nye. These family members shaped his life and values, and their memories will forever be held close to his heart.
The family is deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Christus Mother Frances Hospital for their compassionate care during Ben's time in the ICU. Their dedication and support brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity, allowing Ben's spirit to contribute in a meaningful way to others.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Ben's memory, as his family wishes to celebrate his life in an intimate setting surrounded by those who loved him most.
As we remember Ben, let us celebrate the life he lived, the love he shared, and the memories he created that will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Although his time with us was too short, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as we navigate our lives without him.
