A quote Ben was fond of was, "Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional." Unfortunately, growing old caught up to him January 5th, 2026.
Ben was born April 16, 1951, in Reading, PA to Donald and Veta Glick. He grew up in Reading, PA and North Plainfield, NJ, where he graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1969 before moving to New Mexico to attend New Mexico Tech. After a break from studies, he graduated with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1985. He later gained certification as a Professional Engineer and worked for multiple engineering firms before retiring from CACI in 2022. Ben was a licensed HAM Radio operator and was active with Sandoval County ARES for over 20 years, where he held the offices of President and Board of Directors.
While he held many titles in his life, his favorites were husband, dad and granddad. He married his beloved wife, Helen in 1981 and together they had two children, with whom he shared his passions for fishing, camping, woodworking, and unique constructions of kayaks from PVC pipes.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Veta. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Daniel Glick; daughter, Tina Balistreri and spouse, Mark; grandchildren, Henry and Toby; step-grandkids, Emily, Nathan, and Jacob; and his sister, Florence Kelly and spouse, Peter.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 25th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sandoval County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (SCARES), P.O. Box 44394, Rio Rancho, NM 87174. https://nmscares.org.
