Ben L. Hall November 10, 1936 to November 17, 2022In loving memory of, Ben Leslie Hall, who passed away on November 17th, 2022. He was one of the most amazing souls on this planet. He was a family man and gave endlessly to family and friends, working tirelessly for his family and community while facing life's challenges with strength and courage. He will be sorely missed by all.
Ben L. Hall was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He was born in Fort Sumner, NM to Marvin Richard and Nina Mae Hall on November 10th, 1936, and was the eighth of ten children. Ben graduated from Ruidoso High School in 1954 as Class President, then attended New Mexico Western College in Silver City, NM. Ben worked as a Building Contractor for 45+ years, completing over 300 custom homes in and around the Ruidoso and Lincoln County area, along with many commercial buildings around the state.
In 1970 he and his brothers started Hall Brothers Development, and later he branched out on his own with Hall's Construction Company and Sierra Blanca Construction, Inc. During those years Ben also served his community as Lincoln County Commissioner for 4 years beginning in 1978, where he was a member of the Airport Board, Lincoln County Planning and Zoning, Ruidoso/Lincoln Extraterritorial Zoning, Sierra Blanca Regional Airport Commission, and Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Joint Use board, Ruidoso-Hondo Valley Hospital board and the Ruidoso-Hondo Hospital planning board. He served three terms in the New Mexico House of Representatives and was a member of the Business and Industry Committee, Transportation Committee, the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Committee and the Higher Education Committee. He also served as a member of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission from 2011 to 2014. He was elected on November 2, 2010, he was named chairman of the commission by a 2 to 3 vote on Jan 8, 2013. In June of 2013 he was elected as President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commission Western Region for 3 years, which includes thirteen states. Ben was honored to serve the State of New Mexico and his constituents.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin Glen Hall, Thomas Andrew (Tommy) Hall, Charles Raymond (Chub) Hall, and Billy Hall, sisters Lois Mae Morrison, Mary Jane (Buddy) Nier, Mildred Marie Muse, Nina Ruth Stokes, and Dorothy Irene Hall. His first wife Cornelia Gail Sharp and second wife Wanda Jean Gaskin.
He is survived by his three daughters, Julie Andrea, and husband Joe Jiménez, of Tularosa, NM, Gaylon Grey, and husband Jimmy Van Winkle, of Tularosa, NM, Jena Rae, and husband Willie Muller, of Capitan, NM. Seven grandchildren, Mariah L. Peebles (Raymond), Dakota R. Hall (wife Cruz), Rye D Richardson (husband Jerry), Alise K. Dozier (husband Nathan), Paedon B. Herrera, Tara S. Turnbow (husband Jeremiah) and Mackey E. Muller (Nestor Hernandez). Great grandchildren, Cannon, Greysin, Larrien, Daylon, Adriana, Kaylee, Jarren, McKinzie, Rylie, Karsyn, Mikah, Axton, Silas, Gracelynn, Liam and Tony, great great grandchild AvaLeigh and many loving nieces, and nephews.
Celebration of Ben's life will be held on December 3, 2022, 10:00 am to 12:00pm at Burkham's Barn 107 Sagebrush Road, Ruidoso Downs, NM.
