Ben Simon Likens passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
A lifelong Kansan, Ben built his life and many cherished memories with family and friends there before moving to Tooele, Utah, in 1998.
Ben loved the outdoors and spent most weekends camping in his motorhome, often gathered around a campfire with his best friends-his grandson, Darion Warner, and great-grandson, Ryan. He also loved taking rides in his Jeep, enjoying the open roads and the beauty of nature.
A proud veteran, Ben served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He carried the same dedication and resilience into every part of his life.
After his service in the Navy, Ben devoted most of his life to the construction industry and instilled in his family the value of hard work and perseverance.
Ben was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He also had a passion for cooking, always eager to try new recipes and test out the latest kitchen gadgets.
Ben is reunited in death with his beloved wife of many years, Linda Likens, who passed away 16 years ago. He also joins their cherished dog Cleo; his two grandchildren, Talyn Giersdorf and Tyler Warner; his son-in-law, Mike Clemmer; as well as his parents, John and Grace Likens, who welcomed him home.
He is survived by his children: Daniel Likens (Heidi), Dana Clemmer, Darren Likens (Judy), Leann Likens Warner, and Leslie Likens. Ben was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
His family will remember him around every campfire, honoring the joy, strength, and love he brought to those around him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tooele City Cemetery, where Ben will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Linda. If you wish to send tribute flowers, please send the arrangements to 834 S 480 W, Tooele UT 84074.
A celebration of life will also be held for Ben in Kansas near his birthday, March 7th.
