Kristine Carlisle (Karabatsos)
Kristine "Kris" Carlisle (Karabatsos), a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved longtime resident of Tooele County, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 27, 1941, in Tooele, Utah, Kris was the cherished daughter of Andrew and Vera Karabatsos. She carried the vibrant spirit of her Italian and Greek heritage throughout her life. Kris graduated from Tooele High School in 1959. In the 1960s, she attended beauty school and was a beautician at the Ritz salon. She married Stephen Carlisle on September 15, 1962.
A familiar and welcoming face to many in Tooele County, Kris dedicated over 50 years of her life to working as a server at the Glowing Embers and, most recently, Jim's family restaurant, where she touched countless lives with her steady presence and warm demeanor. Her dedication to her job was a testament to her strong work ethic and friendly nature.
Kris's deepest happiness came from her family. She took pride in her children and grandchildren, actively sharing in their lives and celebrating milestones. Her unwavering love for them was a cornerstone of her life. She loved her family, especially when they all came to Grandma's house for holidays, Sunday dinner, or just to play with Grandma. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion and will forever be a happy memory for us all! She always made sure that every grandchild and great-grandchild was remembered with a small present on every holiday. She has so much to be proud of in her life, but she was most proud of her family and the lasting legacy that will live on through them.
She also had many special nieces and nephews in her life. Kris also had a legendary, well-known affection for the simple pleasures in life, especially ketchup on almost everything, peppermint patties, and chocolate-covered cherries.
Kris is survived by her loving children: Betsy Henninger (Ray), Michael Carlisle (Bobbie), and Travis Carlisle (Paulla). She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her grandchildren: Amber (Jason), Drew, Kareena (Devin), Lexi (Kaden), Hannah (Kyle), Riley, Jaclynn (Andrew), and Zayden, as well as her six great-grandchildren: Anelycia, Easton, Kannon, Scarlett, Lillian, and Connor. She is also survived by her brother, Dino Karabatsos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Vera, her brother, George, and Stephen Carlisle.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah, at 11 a.m., with a visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Interment at the Tooele City Cemetery.
