Ben Allen Salgat, a cherished soul whose life was characterized by his selfless nature, faith-filled heart, and passionate love for his family and the great outdoors, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at Beaumont Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Born on August 27, 1957, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Robert & Norma (Wait) Salgat. Ben's life journey was one of devotion, hard work, and joyous adventure.
Ben's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Bay City, where he cultivated a love for nature and the simple pleasures of life. His formative experiences in the Michigan wilderness would shape his character and become a lifelong passion. On April 26, 1985, Ben married the love of his life, Diane Szyperski, and together they embarked on a remarkable journey that would span 40 years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, and it was the foundation upon which they built a beautiful life.
Ben's commitment to his loved ones was evident in his close relationships with his family members. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Diane, who was his partner in every sense of the word. His siblings, Debra Harrison, Cheryl (Jon) Worrell, Kathy Albee, and Janice (John) Switek, will remember him as the protective and caring brother he always was. His aunts, Carol Salgat and Irma Knochel, his in-laws, Darlene Szyperski, Rita Doyen, Mary Ann Szyperski, and Bobby Szyperski, as well as his nephew Drake Wood, niece Journie LaCroix, Tim Awad, and Colleen Dombrowski, and several nieces and nephews are left with cherished memories of Ben's kindness and warmth. His special friends, Dan Salgat, Brian Manor, and Wayne Salgat, will miss his companionship and unwavering friendship. Ben was predeceased by an infant brother, Bobby.
A skilled welder by trade, Ben was a valued employee at Bay Cast Inc. for 47 years. His work was not just a means of livelihood; it was a craft he honed with precision and pride. The diligence and integrity he brought to his profession were the same qualities he applied to all areas of his life.
Above all, Ben's life was a reflection of his profound love for the Lord. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding his actions and interactions with everyone he met. He found solace and strength in his belief, and it was this faith that illuminated his path.
An avid outdoorsman, Ben found joy in hunting, fishing, and gathering around campfires with friends and family. These moments spent in the tranquility of nature were among his most cherished. The legacy of Ben's love for the great outdoors will live on through the stories and memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to accompany him on his adventures.
