Benedict Barta

Schenectady- Benedict Barta, 69, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, transcended from his earthly body to heaven. He was the devoted son to the late Julia and Karl Barta of Glenville. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Laurie Halik. Benny is survived by his brother, Karl Barta and his wife Sandy G. Barta of Summerville, South Carolina; brother in law, Mike Bilka; lifelong friend, Mai-Lis Day; cousins, James Hotaling of Saranac Lake and William Hotaling of Ballston Lake. Benny was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School class of 1973. He worked at Culligan Water Co and with the Town of Glenville. Benny was a beacon of kindness and was devoted to god and his family. His bright light continues to inspire us every day. Benny held many gifts and his kind, loving and generous manner blessed many. He enjoyed gardening and had a Rodney Dangerfield impression that was over the top. The family would like to give extend a special thank you to the staff of the Ellis Hospital ICU for their care and compassion. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm, with a prayer service at 7pm at The White Funeral Home, Scotia. Burial will take place Friday at 10:30am at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Memorial donations in Benny's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to St. Joseph's Church, 231 2nd St, Scotia, NY 12302.
