Benjamin Alexander Ruschell Jr

Benjamin A. Ruschell, Jr. 27, responded to his Heavenly Father's request to join Him in eternal peace and tranquility on December 22, 2025. Ben was a graduate of TC Williams High School in Alexandria, VA, attended VCU and served the Republic as aUnited States Army Tanker (19K), earning the Korea Defense Service Medal.
In a life too short in years but long in providing good memories, Ben leaves a legacy of kindness to others, sensitivity to situations and a gentle good humor, that made a conversation with him a verbal treasure. His salutation upon answering a phone call was an elixir of enthusiasm. The energy would travel through the interaction and always concluded with the expression: "All the Love".
Himself an Army brat, Ben embraced DC as his home. He knew and followed every Washington Wizards player and coach; he forever believed his NFL team, "The 'Skins, was just around the corner from a great season; he tolerated the fair-weather crowds that passed for Nats and Capitals fans. Ben may have been the only driver in the DMV never to have lost his cool to road rage. And he knew what parts of the city to find a decent lunch for less than five dollars.
Anyone who ever heard Ben sing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was awed and inspired. Other renditions pale in comparison.
Ben is survived by his parents, Jenifer and Benjamin A. Ruschell, Sr., his brothers Luke (and sister in law Anika) and George, his sisters Theodora and Xene and his niece Rae Ann Ruschell, five cousins, eight aunts and uncles, and four loving grandparents.
The family will receive friends at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home. 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Life Celebration at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM in Quantico National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the graveside.
