Bennett Stapp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch Funeral Service - Greenville on Dec. 31, 2025.
Bennett "Craig" Stapp, 68, passed away on December 31, 2025. Born in Lubbock, Texas Craig spent most of his life in Tempe, Arizona before making Greenville, Texas his home for the past 15 years.

Craig dedicated 35 years of his life to serving his community in Tempe as a Police Sergeant, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. He spent the last 15 years of his career leading the development of police firearms training programs. Prior to that, he worked in Motors, Patrol, the Selective Enforcement Unit, as a Detective, and several others. His commitment to excellence extended beyond his career. Craig was an accomplished competitive shooter, achieving the prestigious rank of Grand Master. After retiring, he enjoyed working on projects around his property, and shooting Sporting Clays as a member of the Terrell Rifle & Pistol Club. His passion for service and skill reflected his unwavering dedication to those around him.

Craig attended Greenville Bible Church, and loved serving the Lord. This was evident in how he treated others. If you asked anyone who knew Craig, they would tell you he had a remarkable sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. His quick wit and ability to bring humor into any situation were among his most cherished qualities.

Craig is survived by his loving wife, Terri; his son, Dustin and his wife Kristin Stapp; and his cherished granddaughter, Ruth Stapp. He is also survived by his mother, Rolene Stapp; beloved brothers, Mark and his wife Olivia Stapp, and Kyle Stapp; sisters-in-law Kathy Treadway and her husband Gary, and Rebecca Romig; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Stapp.

Craig will be remembered for his integrity, strength, humor, and devotion to family and friends. His legacy of service, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
