Cleo Stapp, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Rust Medical Center, with her beloved granddaughter Lesley by her side. She was 91 years old.
Cleo was born on August 2, 1934, in La Puente, New Mexico, to Juan and Senaida Lopez. On June 10, 1955, she married the love of her life, Roy Stapp. Together, they raised two daughters, Gladys and Sadie. In 1957, Cleo and Roy moved to Albuquerque, where they built their home and devoted their lives to family.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Senaida Lopez; her husband, Roy Stapp; her daughters, Gladys and Sadie; her brothers-in-law, Dan Valdez, Paul Trujillo, Billy Stapp, and Albert Stapp; her sisters-in-law, Jewel Bullough, Shirley Mullonex, and Joanne Wright; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larkin and Margaret Stapp.
She is survived by her sisters: Rosie Valdez of Lumberton; Irma Trujillo of Rio Rancho; and Peggy Chavez (Louis) of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her grandchildren, including her devoted granddaughter and caregiver, Lesley Corlis (Ryan) of Rio Rancho; granddaughter Jessica Gallegos of Los Lunas; and her son-in-law, Frank Gallegos of Los Lunas.
Cleo leaves behind four cherished great-grandchildren: Tyler Corlis, Connor Corlis, Gabriel Corlis, and Tessa Corlis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Cleo will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, and the love and care she gave throughout her life. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
