Benny Eugene Dye of Abilene, Texas passed away on January 6, 2026, in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, with Brother David Cason officiating under the direction of The Hamil Family Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Benny was born in Abilene, Texas to Ben and Lorene Dye on October 14, 1941. He was the eldest of one brother Vernon Wayne, and sister Lynda Joyce McDonald. He attended school in Abilene, and in later years he attended McMurry College and the University of Colorado. He was a member of Temple Baptist all of his earlier years.
He served in the US Navy in 1959 aboard the Fleet Ballistic Missile and the USS Theodore Roosevelt when it was commissioned operating out of Holy Loch, Scotland. He enjoyed his years in the Navy, and life with the military.
In his later years, he was in construction - building homes and apartment complexes in Abilene and working many years at Lowes in Abilene. He built a home for his parents for retirement as his last project in the country.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Lorene; and his brother, Vernon Wayne Dye. He has one remaining sister, Lynda Joyce McDonald, of Abilene.
Throughout his entire life, he enjoyed his time in the Navy the most. "Anchors Aweigh"
