Benny Erwin Owens

Mr. Benny Erwin Owens, age 70, of the Mountain Road section of Lebanon, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday (August 21, 2025) at his home. Born March 1, 1955 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Willard and Reba Owens and Pete O'Quinn. He had spent his early life in Buchanan County and was a graduate of Council High School. After marrying his wife, Liz, they made their home in Russell County. Those who knew Benny, knew that he was a hard worker and devoted husband. He spent forty-nine years working in the coal mines, with his career ending at Wellmore Coal in 2023. He enjoyed drag-racing and spending time with his wife and canine companion, Bo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Church and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Quillion and Vernie Boyd..

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty years, Liz Boyd Owens; one daughter, Ashley Stiltner and husband, Andrew; five sisters, Sharon Mullins, Jannie Beller, Sherry Dotson, Shelia Akers, and Debbie O'Quinn; three brothers, Stevie Owens, Timmie O'Quinn, and Greg O'Quinn; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tawdros, Dr. Chaudhry, and the wonderful staff from Ultra Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Denver Barton officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday at the Family Cemetery on Foxfire Road in Davenport, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Avery Boyd, Allen Boyd, Charlie Boyd, Jordan Wilson, Tim Stevens, and Joshua Stevens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Stone, Jackie Darter, Gerald Cantrell, Clifford Breeding, and Clifton Barton.

The family will receive friends from 6 -7 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
