Mr. Michael John Hodgins, age 70, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Sunday (August 17, 2025) at his home. Born September 2, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, he was a son of the late John and Patsy Ann Carmode Hodgins. He was a graduate of Clio Area High School and attended the University of Michigan. He was of the Baptist faith. He had formerly been employed as a carpenter and as a mechanic at the Corvette Factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He had also worked as a journeyman and was a member of the IBEW. He had made his home in the Russell County area for the past twenty years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and watching westerns, Nascar, and football.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Penley Hodgins; five children, Kelly Connor-Parente & husband, Ryan Connor, Chad Hodgins, Ryah Dowd, Johnny Hodgins and wife, Elyse, and Cody Hodgins; grandchildren, Hunter Parente, Payton Connor, Camren Howell, Alex Warian, Owen Hodgins, Emryn Hodgins, and Jesse Hodgins; step-children, Heather Hess and Gary, Robert Crabtree and Bobbi, Travis Crabtree and Brooke, Amanda Crabtree and Jason, and Samantha Hess and Lee; special step-grandson, Chandler Roberts; three siblings, Paula Everman and husband, Terry, Richard Hodgins, and Todd Hodgins and wife, Kathleen; his mother-in-law, Jean Penley; canine companions, Rusty, Brandi, and Hercules; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Chester Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Peck Cemetery at Drill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Robert Crabtree, Travis Crabtree, Lee Hess, Jason Israel, Gary Hess, Matt Hilton, Larry Irick, Johnny Hodgins, and Cody Hodgins.

Larry Ball will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
