Benny Steve Rivera

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Benny Steve Rivera, our beloved son, dad, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2021, in Ocate, NM. Benny was born on August 24, 1984, to Steve and Vangie Rivera in Las Vegas, NM. We know Benny is now with his beloved grandparents, Benny and Ernestine Arguello, Joe Rivera and an aunt who held a special place in his heart, Catherine Wolfe.
Benny will be missed everyday by his son, Zavion, parents Steve and Vangie Rivera, siblings Richard (Patricia), Joey (Stephanie), Robert (Nicole) and Christina (Kenny). He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Diego, Adriano and Richelle Rivera, Alisia Rivera, Rickie Aguilar, Urijah, Evangeline and Riley Rivera, Rory Rivera, and Kane Lords. His grandmother, Tita James, also survives him.
A 2003 graduate of Wagon Mound High School, Benny enjoyed playing basketball in junior high and hanging out with his friends.
Benny developed an early appreciation for drawing. He progressed with his self-taught skills at a young age and became quite the skilled artist.
With his out-going personality, Benny did not meet anyone he did not like. Whatever Benny had; he was always willing to give it to anyone who needed it more. Those who knew Benny, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.
Benny had a love of music. He would play his favorite songs and knew the lyrics word by word for all types of music.
His death has left a great void for all his family and friends.
Rosary services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, December 13, 2021, funeral mass will follow both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Ocate, NM with Father Christopher Martinez as celebrant.
