Benny R. "Ben" Spicer, 77, of Owensboro died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Stanley and Grethel Spicer.

Mr. Spicer was a 1955 graduate of Sacramento High School and served as a helicopter mechanic in the U. S. Air Force.

He retired from T.V.A. where he was a machinist and a member of the Health and Safety Committee. Ben was a member of Christ Community Church.
He was also a former member of the Utica Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners.
Ben loved to ride motorcycles and eat out with his friends.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His kind spirit and smile will be missed by many. He was known as "Gentle Ben".

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Spicer.

Mr. Spicer is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Gay Coffey Spicer; sons, Kevin Spicer (Ann) of Atlanta, Keith Spicer and Ben Spicer II (Lisa), both of Owensboro; grandson, Braden Spicer; step-granddaughter, Caitlin Higgins; nieces and a nephew.

The memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, September 20 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Myke Templeton will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday after 2 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children 1900 Richmond Rd, Lexington, KY 40502 or Christ Community Church 1220 Center St, Owensboro, KY 42303.
