Benny Ray Weeks, 62, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

A memorial service to honor Benny’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 17th at Munden Funeral Home. A reception will follow at 308 Murdoch Road in Newport.

Benny was born on April 10, 1962, in Bethesda, Maryland, and later moved to Carteret County, where he spent most of his life. As a talented carpenter, he found great joy in working with his hands and creating beautiful structures.

Benny will be remembered for his famous cookouts, where friends and family gathered to enjoy good food and great company. He had a deep appreciation for the water, often spending time fishing and appreciating the natural beauty of the Crystal Coast. Benny was a big football fan, always enjoying a great game. In his free time, he also liked to garden and share his harvest with others.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Samantha Jackson (Christopher) of Manassas, VA; sons, Bobby Weeks (Cindy) and Daniel Weeks (Whitney) of Newport, NC; step-daughter, Stephanie Kyle of Newport, NC; father, Dr. Samuel “Sammy” Weeks (Georgia Connie) of Four Oaks, NC; sisters, Brenda Eve Weeks of Raleigh, NC and Betty Jean Sutton (Frank) of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; brother, Bobby Neal Weeks of Beaufort, NC; step-brother, William “Wayne” Weeks (Kimberly) of Smithfield, NC; sister-in-law, Beth Weeks of Newport, NC; and numerous grandchildren and close friends.

Benny was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Pauline Brown; son, Tyler Weeks; and brother, Billy Mack Weeks.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
