Bernadette Irene Cowher, 81, of Livonia, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025 at her home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was known for her warmth, humor, devotion to family, and unwavering faith in God. Bernadette is predeceased by her parents Bruno Ulinski and Stella Webb (Donald), son Thomas, and great-granddaughter Gabriella.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years Kenneth Cowher. Dearly loved mother to 4 children: the late Thomas (Sue), Timothy (Colleen), Tammy Denstaedt (Dan), and Terry (Julee). Cherished grandmother to 10 grandchildren: Emily Geverink (Scotty), Alex (Angela), Patrick (Taylor), Dan (Ashley), Bob (Samantha), Ken (Emily), Mark, Melissa Beculheimer (Zack), Ashley, and Nick. Adored great-grandmother to 10: Oakley, Mason, Ford, the late Gabriella, Allie, Alivia, Grayson, Madelyn, Nora, and Ellia.
Bernie, as she was known by many, was a proud alum of Ladywood High School. Ladywood is where she met her dear, life-long friend, Rosemary. After high school she did a variety of jobs including working as a medical biller for Garden City Hospital and later for a private dermatologist. Bernie enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, volunteering, and most of all, supporting and caring for her family and friends.
During her retirement years, Bernie spent many happy winters with Ken in Bonita Springs, Florida. They quickly adapted to their retirement lifestyle and made new friends easily. Bernie continued her love for cooking and frequently created new recipes to share with her senior community.
Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2025 from 2:00 – 8:00pm at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia, MI. On Saturday, June 21, 2025, family and friends are welcome to gather at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 N Haggerty Rd, Plymouth, MI. Visitation at 9:30 am, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Bernadette may be made to Angela Hospice.
