Bernard Lee Tollett, 92, of Jacobsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
He was born on November 3, 1932 in Bellaire, Ohio to the late Edward and Helen (Jones) Tollett.
From an early age, Bernard carried with him a generous spirit, a sharp sense of humor, and a genuine kindness that touched everyone he met.
In 1952, Bernard answered the call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean War until 1956 an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to integrity, responsibility, and service.
After returning home, Bernard built a long career with Consolidated Aluminum in Hannibal, Ohio, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
Beyond his work, he found joy in the simple and steady pleasures of life- wood carving, carpentry, and tending to his garden. His hands were rarely still, and the care he put into his work reflected the care he put into his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his family, and the smiles of his great-grandchildren never failed to brighten his day.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley (Eikleberry) Tollett; three daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Schroeder, Linda (Timothy) Barritt, and Jo (Carl) Krieger; sister, Helen Jane (William) Bryant; nine grandchildren, Misty Schroeder, Angie (David) Cather, Shane Schroeder, Adam Barritt, Shaun Barritt, Matthew Barritt, Ashley Krieger, Cory Krieger, Mackenzie (Kylie) Krieger; and thirteen great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William (Shirley) Tollett and George (Joan) Tollett.
Those who knew Bernard will remember not only his humor and willingness to help anyone in need, but also the steady love and example he set for his family. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their compassion, care, and support.
