He was born in Patrick County on September 21, 1940, to the late William Lester Belcher and Adlena Harris Belcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Clay Belcher, Zella B. Conner, Calvin Belcher, Coy Belcher, Sylvia B. Helms, and Robert Belcher. Bernice was a hard worker. His greatest enjoyment in life was his family, especially being a “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish the memories of Bernice are his devoted wife of 56 ½ years, Brenda Tuggle Belcher of the home; one daughter, Tammy B. Epperly (Darrell); three grandchildren, J.C. Belcher (Jody), George Belcher (Cheyenne), and Michaela Belcher (Brent); three great-grandchildren, Dawson Hylton, Riley Hylton, and Coleman Belcher; one sister, Erma B. Adams; two brothers-in-law, Jimmie Tuggle and Roger Tuggle; three sisters-in-law, Frances Belcher, Dorothy Belcher, and Becky Platt; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Belcher will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Rick Randall and Logan Boyd officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon.
