Bernice Jeannette Albritton McLeod, peacefully left this world on August 29, 2024, at South Georgia Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 31, 1928, in Madison, FL, to Walter & Estelle Albritton. A lifelong resident of Madison, Bernice attended Madison High School and shortly afterwards, met W.C. "Pete" McLeod, who had recently returned from WWII, where he served in the U.S. Navy. They were married in 1948 and began their life together. She worked as a clerk at May's Dress shop in Madison and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending church, reading, and growing flowers in her yard. Bernice was preceded in death by: her husband, W.C. "Pete" McLeod, and her parents, Walter & Estelle Albritton, and a sister, Louise Pearson.
She is survived by: 2 daughters, Sandra McDonald, and husband Danny, of Cherry Lake, FL, Ann McClune, and husband Jerry, of Madison, 4 grandchildren, Wendy Miller, Steve McClune(Sharon), Trey McDonald (Katrina), and Toni McDonald; 6 great-grandchildren, Kristen & Kaylee McClune, Finn & Henry Miller, and Ian & Isobel McDonald.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on September 1, 2024, in the Burns Madison Chapel with Rev. Greg Ragan officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospital.
