Obituary published on Legacy.com by Melson Funeral Services - Ocean View Chapel on Dec. 16, 2025.
Bernice L. Murray, age 90, of
Millsboro, Delaware, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 10, 1935, in
Ocean View, Delaware, Bernice was the beloved daughter of the late Horace J. Long and Dorothy (Madera) Long. She graduated from Lord Baltimore High School in 1953, beginning a life rooted deeply in family, faith, and community.
Bernice was the heart of her home-a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and proud homemaker who always put her family first. She had a strong work ethic and quietly supported her family in many ways, working as a secretary at the Poultry Exchange in Selbyville, a teacher's aide at Lord Baltimore Elementary School, and later as a registration clerk at Beebe Emergency Room in Millville. She also lovingly served as her husband Grant's personal secretary for his real estate business and helped her son by keeping the books for his salon, never hesitating to lend her time or talents where they were needed.
Faith was a cornerstone of Bernice's life. She was a faithful member of Mariner's Bethel Church in Ocean View for many years and, more recently, Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro. Her gentle faith guided her daily life and touched everyone who knew her.
Bernice lived by her favorite saying, "Live, Laugh, Love," and she truly did just that. She found joy in the simple moments, laughter in everyday life, and love in all she did. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Grant W. Murray, and a brother-in-law, Neil Murray. She is survived by her four children, Susan Stewart and her husband, Dean of Georgetown, DE, Grant W. Murray, Jr. of
