Deborah Bortner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Melson Funeral Services - Ocean View Chapel on Jan. 15, 2026.
Deborah Elaine Bortner, age 76, of Ocean View, Delaware, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

Born in Hanover, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1949, Deborah was the daughter of the late Doris (Henry) Bortner and the late Dr. Richard Baker Bortner. She was a graduate of Spring Grove High School, Class of 1967, and went on to graduate from the Johns Hopkins School of Radiology as an X-ray technician. Deborah later continued her education and became a nuclear medicine technician.

Deborah spent the majority of her professional career working in the healthcare field in Baltimore before relocating to Delaware. After moving, she was employed by Cardiology Consultants, where she worked until her retirement.

In her younger years, Deborah enjoyed bowling and was especially talented in creating beautiful stained-glass pieces, a hobby that reflected both her creativity and patience. Above all, Deborah found joy in life's simple pleasures-spending time with family and friends, and relaxing while watching a favorite television show or movie.

She is survived by her loving wife, Connie A. Troll; her sister, Linda Bortner Kuhn; her niece, Bethany Lucas; her nephew, Matthew Kuhn; and six cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.

A service to celebrate Deborah's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and family may call after 1:30 pm

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Deborah's name to the Brandywine Valley SPCA at https://bvspca.org/donate
